Return Policy

Overview

OCTNE is a peer-to-peer marketplace where individual users buy and sell automotive parts, vehicles, and accessories. Return policies are determined by individual sellers. This document provides guidelines for fair and transparent return practices on our platform.

1. Seller Responsibilities

Sellers are required to:

  • Provide accurate descriptions of items for sale
  • Clearly disclose the condition of items (new, like-new, good, fair, parts-only)
  • Disclose any known defects or damage
  • Include multiple clear photos of the item
  • Respond to questions from potential buyers within 24 hours
  • Establish clear return policies before sale

2. Buyer Protections

Buyers have the right to:

  • Receive items as described and in the condition represented
  • Request detailed information about items before purchase
  • Report misrepresentations to OCTNE
  • Receive refunds or replacements for significantly misrepresented items
  • File disputes through our platform within 30 days of purchase

3. Return Windows

Sellers may establish their own return policies. Recommended timeframes include:

  • No Returns: Clearly state "no returns" in listing if applicable
  • 7-Day Returns: Buyer may initiate return within 7 days of receipt
  • 14-Day Returns: Buyer may initiate return within 14 days of receipt
  • 30-Day Returns: Buyer may initiate return within 30 days of receipt

4. Condition Upon Return

Items must be returned in the same condition as received (normal wear excluded). Acceptable returns include items that:

  • Do not function as described
  • Have undisclosed damage or defects
  • Are significantly different from product photos
  • Show signs of manufacturing defects

Unacceptable returns include items that have been:

  • Damaged by the buyer
  • Modified or installed
  • Heavily used beyond normal wear
  • Mishandled or neglected

5. Shipping Returns

Unless otherwise agreed:

  • Buyers typically pay return shipping unless item is defective or significantly misrepresented
  • Sellers should provide a return shipping address
  • Items should be packaged securely to prevent damage during transit
  • Tracking information should be provided for both outbound and return shipments

6. Local Pickup

For items listed as local pickup only:

  • Buyers should inspect items thoroughly before completing the transaction
  • Condition cannot be disputed after pickup and payment are completed
  • Both parties should agree on inspection terms before meetup
  • Buyers should bring a trusted individual for large purchases

7. Vehicle Sales

Vehicle purchases are generally final sales. Buyers are strongly advised to:

  • Conduct a pre-purchase inspection by a certified mechanic
  • Request a vehicle history report
  • Test drive the vehicle thoroughly
  • Verify all documentation and title
  • Inspect in person before committing to purchase

8. Dispute Resolution

If a dispute arises between buyer and seller:

  • Both parties should attempt to resolve directly through messaging
  • Provide evidence (photos, messages, tracking) if filing a dispute
  • File disputes within 30 days of purchase
  • OCTNE will review evidence and determine appropriate resolution
  • Final decisions are binding and enforceable

9. Refund Processing

Once a return is approved:

  • Refunds are processed after item is received and inspected
  • Processing typically takes 5-10 business days
  • Original shipping costs are generally non-refundable
  • Refunds are issued to original payment method

10. Non-Returnable Items

The following items are typically final sale and non-returnable:

  • Consumable items (fluids, filters, etc.)
  • Custom or specialty builds
  • Items purchased as-is from salvage
  • Digital products or services

11. Prohibited Return Tactics

The following are prohibited and may result in account suspension:

  • Returning counterfeit items or substituting items
  • Returning items that were physically damaged by the buyer
  • Abusing the return process for profit
  • Filing false disputes or fraudulent claims

12. Seller Protections

Sellers are protected from:

  • Frivolous or fraudulent return claims
  • Returns of items in substantially worse condition
  • Returns filed after the return window expires
  • Disputes based on buyer's personal preference alone

13. Our Role

OCTNE acts as a facilitator and mediator in disputes. We:

  • Review evidence from both parties objectively
  • Make determinations based on our terms and this policy
  • Protect both buyers and sellers from fraud
  • Reserve the right to suspend accounts engaged in bad faith
  • Do not guarantee specific return outcomes

14. Changes to Return Policy

OCTNE may update this Return Policy at any time. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of these terms.
